Desert Wedding Tablescape Inspiration

This Desert Americana table setting is inspired by a recent trip to Joshua Tree and Palm Springs, California. Featuring a minimalist, organic-form white plate on top of a natural woven charger, this place setting showcases several variations of neutral blushes and clays. The salad plate, made of recycled glass, is our beautiful Helena Plate which offers the slightest tone of pink sand. Recycled glass makes another appearance in the water glass, which has an amber brown rim to tie in with the leather napkin ring. These cool napkin rings are secured by a gold pin, matching the gold Como Collection Flatware. A desert is not complete without cacti, so our Isla Wine Glass provides a beautiful hint of green. White and beige candle holders made of ceramic and stone round out the look with their natural materials.

A minimal half-circle menu tops off the entire setting. While the menu color is barely-there pink, it is customized using guest name tags with a soft green font. The tags are attached with a tiny gold heart that pins a beige tassel to the menu for an added dose of Americana.

The floral centerpieces were created by K. Frances Floral, who incorporated dried florals and unique, whimsical pieces for an absolutely stunning result.

A Desert Americana tablescape is perfect for summer weddings with pink and terracotta color schemes. Of course, it’s also perfect for weddings taking place in Eastern Washington. Check out this list of venues in Eastern Washington that would be terrific options for embracing this style:

How to Ensure Your Wedding Guests “Feel the Love”

In the Pacific Northwest, September ushers in some of the loveliest summer weather after the mugginess of August passes. Couples who choose this month for their wedding are able to celebrate in the hazy sun before the leaves begin to change; their ceremony an ode to the dwindling summer days before the chill of fall arrives.

This September wedding had palpable love in the air—a comment made by many guests following the celebration. None of the features below are a replacement for actual love (please, please be in love with your partner!), but they helped create the feeling of relaxed, genuine love that every wedding strives for.

A Short Ceremony

This may seem counterintuitive, but a short ceremony is key to keeping a light, loving feeling. While ceremonies allow partners to express their vows to one another in front of loved ones, a long, drawn-out ceremony often flattens the energy in the venue. A concise, impactful ceremony that doesn’t require people to sit for an extended period of time helps to keep the wedding feeling fluid and energized.

A Gentle Timeline

Your wedding planner, day-of-planner, or even photographer may help you create a day-of-timeline. This is a crucial piece of wedding planning that organizes the events of the day, ensuring all of the important bits that need to occur actually have time to occur! When you’re the bride or groom, the day is likely to feel chaotic, no matter the timeline. But the timeline should not create a sense of pressure or chaos for the guests. Make sure your wedding day has ample time to check off every important event (i.e. ceremony, dinner, dancing, speeches, photos, cake-cutting, etc.) without having to rush from one to the next. Creating a casual, laid-back atmosphere will allow your guests to take in the moment, savor the details, and feel the love!

A great, non-traditional way to create this light, airy atmosphere is to start the wedding with a cocktail hour. Remember, your wedding is one of the very few (and maybe only) times when all your friends and family will be present with all your partner’s friends and family. Oftentimes weddings reunite family members and friends that have not seen one another in years. The cocktail hour gives these people a chance to greet one another after a long time apart, creating an energetic buzz in the air. This wedding featured Blackberry Mint Moscow Mules as the signature cocktail, served up icy-cold in traditional copper Moscow Mule mugs (Finn Copper Mug). Serving drinks in unique, high-quality glassware or barware helps to create a fun experience for guests. When the time is right, a shift in music can signal that it’s time to mosey over to be seated for the ceremony.

Who Doesn’t Love Pie?

In another departure from tradition, this wedding served several varieties of homemade pie instead of wedding cake. Some may not like forfeiting the traditional cake-cutting moment, but pie seemed like a terrific fit for a late summer celebration. The buffet style service allowed guests to go back for seconds (or thirds!) and try out the different flavors. This sparked both delight and conversation amongst guests.

The Background Music

A wedding day typically features several very important songs that are often equally difficult to choose! For example, the song the bride walks down the aisle to, the recessional song, the first dance, and the father daughter dance are all tremendously important moments that can be elevated by the song choice. The music selection shouldn’t stop there, however. Create or choose a playlist that suits your desired vibe and let it play in the background throughout the entire day. This is a guaranteed way to keep the energy up and create cohesion between the scheduled events of the day.

Authentic Pieces

Utilize authentic décor and rental pieces to create an event as unique as your love. When the wedding day is infused with details and touches that are chosen by the bride and groom, it creates a special ambiance that is uniquely theirs. Love is not ‘one-size-fits all’, and your wedding shouldn’t be either! The bride and groom chose lounge rentals and tabletops rentals to achieve their desired look. The lounge featured a velvet green Victorian couch that was a fun photo op for guests as well as a statement gold and glass coffee table. A vintage buffet was the perfect height for the wedding guest photo book. High quality glassware and table linens are also essential for creating a tablescape that encourages guests to linger and enjoy.
